Homework:
 - Complete the microscope anatomy practice sheet
 - Review microscope anatomy (parts and functions)

Today in class we:
 - Took notes on microscope anatomy
 -

Homework:
 - Review for your microscope test on Thursday. No study guide will be provided because the test is multiple choice and because it covers such a short part of the unit. The test will cover types of microscopes, microscope parts and functions, and microscope procedures. Each of these topics will be covered by Wednesday.

Today in class we:
 - Received our unit 5 tests back
 - Reviewed types of microscopes
 - Discussed some anatomy of the microscope

Homework:
 - Nothing official, but check out the following.

Test your Resolution (just for fun):
 - Can you find people waving on the beach? A person on a motorcycle? Climbers on a rock face? People watching a waterfall? Try it at the 17 gigapixel image of Yosemite National Park. (Answers on that site's homepage)

Today in class we:
 - Reviewed magnification and resolution
 - Continued notes 6.1
 - Determined how to calculate the power of magnification of a microscope
 - Determine the power of magnification of our microscopes
 - Discussed types of light microscopes.

Homework:
 - No homework!...unless you owe me a book.

Today in class we:
 - Finished the video on the birth of earth
 - Reviewed the question sheet
 - Started notes 6.1 on microscopes (we only got about 2 slides in)

Homework:
 - Bring your textbook. It's time to turn them in!

Today in class we:
 - Watched a video explaining how the earth was formed

Homework:
 - Study for your test. It's tomorrow! If you have any last minute questions, check your notes, your book, and your worksheets THEN e-mail me if you still can't find the answer.
 - Notes 5.3 (absolute age) have been posted. Download below or check the Notes page.

Today in class we:
 - Reviewed last night's homework
 - Studied for the test

Homework:
 - Complete worksheet (download below) question 1-8 (#9 is optional!)
 - NOTE: Number 8 has an error in it. The question should say "In a sample rock there are 100,000,000 atoms..." not 1,000,000,000. The copy below has the correction in it.

Today in class we:
 - Finished notes 5.3 (I'll post them later tonight or tomorrow morning)
 - Learned how to count the number of half lives
 - Learned how long a half life can be for certain elements
 - Learned how to find the age of a rock using half lives.

Homework:
 - Study, study, study!

Today in class we:
 - Started notes 5.3 (no they're not online)
 - Did an activity to see how atoms decay
 - Saw that the rate at which half the atoms decay in a sample remains constant
