Team 7B Science

Homework:
 - Finish the scientific method lab. (file below for download)
 - Start reviewing element list #2. You'll receive a paper copy on Monday.

Today in class we:
 - Took the quiz on the 10 elements
 - Reviewed the steps of the scientific method
 - Did a lab in which we practiced the steps of the scientific method.

On Monday we will:
 - Finish discussing the lab from Friday
 - Discuss theory vs. law
 - Finally begin our notes on atoms, elements...no, really! I really mean it this time!

Homework:
 - Elements quiz tomorrow. Review the list on the study guides page. The quiz is only on the 10 elements.
 - Bring your "Atoms, Elements, Ions, Acids and Bases" notes to class tomorrow.

Today in class we:
 - Collected the observation/inference homework assignment
 - Reviewed inferences and Ockham's Razor
 - Reviewed the order of the scientific method
 - Discussed the steps of the scientific method

Tomorrow in class we will:
 - Take our quiz on the 10 elements
 - Briefly review the scientific method
 - Do a lab to demonstrate the scientific method
 - Start our notes on atoms, elements, ions, acids, and bases.

Homework:
 - Complete the observation/inference worksheet.
 - Review element list #1. Quiz this Friday.
 - Print "Atoms, elements, ions, acids and bases" notes for class Thursday.

Today in class we:
 - Reviewed observations
 - Discussed inferences
 - Practice creating inferences from observations
 - Watched a short video on the scientific method
 - Discussed the steps of the scientific method

On Thursday we will:
 - Finish our discussion on the scientific method
 - Discuss the terms theory and law
 - Begin our notes on atoms and elements

Homework:
 - Review element list #1. Quiz on 9/11. I made online flash cards so you can review.

Today in class we:
 - Finished our observation competition
 - Practiced our observation testing skills by watching three demonstrations.

On Tuesday we will:
 - Briefly discuss quantitative observations.
 - Learn how to make inferences
 - Discuss Ockham's Razor and why it is important to science

Homework:
 - None. Hurrah!

Today in class we:
 - Checked in the lab safety true/false worksheet
 - Analyzed lab safety situations
 - Started notes 1.4: Introduction to Science
 - Defined science
 - Learned the basic components of scientific investigation.

Tomorrow we will:
 - Review today's notes
 - Define observation
 - Practice qualitative and quantitative observations

Homework:
 - Finish the lab safety true/false worksheet. (skip #11)

Today in class we:
 - Shared our safety drawings
 - Reviewed the lab safety rules
 - Signed the lab safety contract
 - Reviewed emergency procedures

Tomorrow in class we will:
 - Check in the lab safety true/false worksheet
 - Work in groups to determine the definition of science
 - Learn who is a scientist
 - List some of the types of sciences
