Absent students: Well, what a day you missed! We completed notes on rates of weathering (it was a review of what we learned from the last two labs). Please download that and get the answers from your friends. We also did a rock cycle game (see me I can give you the instructions for how to do it). We also started our rock cycle notes. Again, see a friend for the answers. Start working on handout 91 (weathering exit sheet) and do what you can. You'll have until Wednesday to get it turned in. Today in class we: - Reviewed rates of weathering - Played a dice game to learn about the paths in the rock cycle - Took notes to reflect on what we learned in the rock cycle game - Received a homework assignment on weathering Handouts: You received three handouts in class today: - Handout 88: Rate of Weathering Notes - Handout 89: Rock Cycle Diagram - Handout 90: Rock Cycle Notes - Handout 91: Weathering Exit Sheet

Homework: - Complete the quarter 2 binder check - Test has been moved to Wednesday, January 25th Absent students: This is a hard day to make up at home. You will need to complete the questions (1-5) on the rate of chemical reactions activity. Also, download handout 87 and complete it. Work on it slowly and think it through. The quarter 2 binder check will be due on Tuesday (so you can get your binder on Monday). Today in class we: - Completed the rate of chemical reactions lab and discussed the results - Looked at how surface area impacts chemical reactions - Took the quarter 2 binder check Handouts: You received one handout in class today: - Handout 87: Weathering and Surface Area

Do not copy their answers to questions 1-5 (they can help you, but don't just copy their answers). It will help you understand the next topic in our unit. This doesn't have to be done tonight but must be done by the end of tomorrow. Today in class we: - Viewed our rocks after sitting in acid for 24 hours - Discussed the lab results - Conducted an experiment to see how heat and surface area affect the time it takes something to weather. Handouts: You received one handout in class today: - Handout 86: Heat and Rate of Chemical Reactions Lab
